Shh! Wedding Details Not to Share

Monday, February 23, 2015

Now that I've been working at Kleinfeld for almost two months, I get to work with dozens and dozens of brides every day - and no, they aren't all bridezillas!!

I'm constantly overhearing brides share details about their big day with their family and friends. Personally, I don't understand why brides bring so many people with them to find their dress and/or have their dress fitted! When it comes time for my big day, I want as few people as possible to see my dress before the wedding...

So speaking of not sharing, here are a few wedding details to keep quiet until the big day!

1. The Dress
Enough said! When you are dress shopping/having your dress fitted, have ONE person be the designated photographer. If you have several people with you, you don't want everyone to be taking pictures with their phones. The last thing you want is for them to share your attire with other guests!  You want to have as many genuine gasps of delight when you walk down the aisle as possible.

2. Your Hair & Makeup
Avoiding this conversation will help you avoid everyone's two cents regarding how you should wear your hair. At the end of the day, it is your wedding and ultimately your decision!

3. The Color Scheme & Decor
You don't want your guests to know every detail about what your wedding day is going to look like. The anticipation is the best part! But everyone will surely ask, so just say, "We want you to be surprised!"

4. The First Dance Song
This is a very personal choice and not all of your guests will understand why you chose a certain song. You may pick up some unwanted comments or criticism - and who needs that?

5. The Guest List Details
You definitely don't want to divulge too much information about your wedding guest list to others.  You may get questions about why certain people were or weren't invited and it can quickly turn into a sticky situation. Same goes for seating arrangements - hush!

6. The Favors
You wedding favors are your gift to your guests - and gifts are usually a surprise! So aside from those helping to assemble or purchase the favors, keep it quiet!

7. The Surprises
Whether it's a special toast, Photo Booth, or a fun sparkler sendoff, don't spoil your wedding day surprises by spilling the beans! Even if it's just one person, you run the risk of guests finding out about that thing that's going to make your wedding day totally unique. So keep those surprises between you and the hubby!
